Family Violence
Emergency safe shelter in Killeen and Temple, crisis counseling, court and hospital accompaniment, and housing help.

Sexual Assault
Advocates who meet you at the hospital 24/7 for a forensic exam, plus counseling and support groups. Stranger and non-stranger.

Housing & Shelter
The Friends In Crisis shelter for people without housing, plus rental assistance in Killeen and Temple.

Veterans & Families
Supportive Services for Veteran Families — rental assistance and case management for low-income veteran households.

About us
Families In Crisis houses, supports, and empowers people experiencing family violence, sexual violence, and homelessness.
We began in 1980 as a group of volunteers who knew the Killeen–Fort Hood area needed a shelter. Funds from the City of Killeen’s Community Development Block Grant and the Attorney General’s Office opened our doors in 1981. Today we run two emergency shelters, a homeless shelter, outreach offices in Temple, Gatesville, and Hamilton, and roughly 50 units of transitional housing.
Every service is confidential and free of charge. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a United Way agency.
