Volunteer

There are many ways to get involved — answering the hotline, painting a shelter with your unit, or fixing what we cannot afford to replace.

Your time

Hotline Volunteer Advocate

Answer our 24-hour hotline. Training is provided; you will never be alone on a call you are not ready for.

Sexual Assault Volunteer Advocate

Accompany survivors to the hospital, law enforcement, and court. Full training required before you take a call.

Volunteer as a group

Your club, organization, class, or military unit can help us accomplish large upkeep tasks at our sites — painting, landscaping, and similar work.

Your services

Do you own a service-based business? We are often in need of expert help and advice from service professionals — carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, and electricians. An afternoon of your trade can save us a month of budget.

Your talents

Organize an event or a provision drive benefiting Families In Crisis. Call us to talk it through.

Advocate training

We hold training for volunteer advocates periodically — call for dates. You must be able to attend all of the classes to complete the training. Contact volunteer services at 254-634-1184 for more information.

TODO: add the next training dates, the total number of hours, and whether a background check is required. This is the single most-asked question from prospective volunteers.

Every night of shelter is paid for by someone in Central Texas.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a United Way agency. Gifts are tax deductible.
